posted about Toyota 200 Series Tyres - (PostID: 6761)
The post

Hi All,

What off-road tyres have people fitted to the 200 series turbo diesel?

According to the plaque on the pillar inside the driver’s door they should have a loading of “116” and a special rating of “H”. A quick check at the local tyre shop & ARB turned up with nothing to suit, including Coopers and BFG.

We’ve searched the forum for the last year and note someone has fitted Yokohamas (will investigate) and another BFGs, which don’t exactly comply. Has anybody gained a concession from their insurance company to put a lesser rated tyre on this (or any other) vehicle?

The “H” rating is 210kph!!!

Cheers

Stephen & Deborah

Stephen,

I fitted Hankook 285/75X17 RF10s. Great tyres. High load rating, higher than original. Speed rating to suit any where in Australia.

They also cure the 4% speedo error so your speed will be accurate. There will not be any insurance issues.

I just came back from 18,000 kms towing the BT and they were excellent. Hankooks will be going onto the van when it's time.

By the way, I got them fitted and balanced for $340 each. That was $120 cheaper, EACH, than BFGs in the same size.

No probs at all Stephen.

I've always bought BFGs but I am really happy with these.

Yes, they are LTs and have a load rating of 1700kg. Beat that.

Member The Hob replied to the question

Just before going Brisbane - Kalgoorlie - Alice - Plenty - Birdsville - Brisbane I replaced my originals with Bridgestone Dueller 694 285/65/17 116 T which have a similar diameter to original which is great as I needed to mix my original spare with these after getting a spinifex puncture.

T is 190kph which I will not be doing opposed to the 210 rating of H but the 116 load rating is the same to prevent issues in this area.

I hope there is more choice by the time I need any others

Alan,
I went with the same tyre on my TD 200. So far so good.
