The post

Hi Folks

We have just ordered a 2010 200 series TD and take delivery in 10 days time. We have read over the last couple of years of various electrical problems, and the local ARB tells us of many unhappy experiences by both them and others.

ARB also advise that they use Toyota looms for wiring of indicator lights around the bull bar, and a Toyota towbar loom for the towbar location. This wiring is somewhat smaller than the 5mm and 6mm that Bushtracker recommend. They also mentioned that running lines direct from the batteries upsets the onboard computer systems.

So we are wondering what the current state of play is regarding

a) Wiring in the Utilux plug and hooking it into the car system (our van is June 2005)
b) Wiring in the Tekonsha brake controller
c) Running an extra heavy wire to the vehicle fridge
d) Wiring in the UHF 2-way radio

Cheers,

Stephen & Deborah

Stephen,

use the Toyota towbar loom.

Wire in an Anderson Plug direct from the driver's side battery.

Tekonsha is OK.

I have a UHF installed and run an Engel in the back from the Driver's side battery.

All should be fine. My only very strong recommendation is that you get your Toyota dealer to do it all. Get the Toyota receipt for all the work. The only bad jobs I've heard of have been done by independent sparkies or by the owners.

Toyota understand the vehicle the best and then, if something goes wrong, you only have one person to deal with and they sold you the vehicle.

Join Lcool.org. Great 200 Series forum.

cheers
