With the mixture of made and unmade sections on the Peninsula Development road do I need to drop my tyre pressure’s on the unmade and then reinflate on the made sections? Or can I do the length on dropped pressure? Any feedback gratefully received on this. Cheers fellow Bushtrackers, Sheryl

Just got back from the Cape. The road was quite good so i didnt feel the need to drop tyre pressures. Dont hurry and watch out for washouts. The road to Weipa was like a highway. Lots of sealed sections. We averaged about 60 klms per hour. I run pressures of around 34. The worst section was from Fruit Bat Falls to the ferry.

Thank you for the information. Were you towing your BT and if so does this apply to tyre pressure on the caravan also?

Pressures around 30 - 35 would be fine for both dirt & bitumen, your speed will be slower so no issues with heat build up.

Thanks fellow Boggers, your responses ease my mind. I will treat it a bit like my Gibb river road trip but enjoy the bits of bitumen as well. Cheers Sheryl

We have just returned from our Weipa/Cape York trip with the BT. Conditions can vary from day to day, but we found 25psi in the van, 200 Series LC 35psi rear and 30psi front, airbags at 15psi. Just took it easy on the sealed sections.
