I rang Simplicity Suspension immediately and spoke with Richard who said it is very uncommon. I ordered a complete Drum assembly including backing plate and shoes. Now we had to get the arm up off the ground and get to somewhere. Lucky for us we were able to contact a bushtracker member close by Lloyd and Heather and Philip and Ann. Lloyd turned what I thought would be a difficult job into a piece of cake with his bush ingenuity. A big thanks for your help. Also a big thanks to the people living near were it happened who offered their front yard for us and the van while the parts came. TNT had them to us on normal freight from Melbourne to Streaky in a day and a half. Also a thankyou to Richard from Simplicity as all I had to do was put the gear on as he had grease packed the new bearing and adjusted the shoes to the drum unit. As to why it happened all we can put it down to is we had a blowout on that wheel 2 years ago at about 100kph. That possibly started the weld fracture. We had also 12 months ago had 4140 axle assemblies installed so we thought we were safe.
For $114.95 each I can buy a replacement blind from CaravansPlus, but they are unable to get a delivery date from Dometic. I have changed the flyscreens in all the van windows over to midgee screens previously, and thought I would take the easy way out and just buy replacement blinds. Wrong! Any recommendation for a supplier/retailer who sells the blind fabric with silver backing would be appreciated.
Has any of you travelled the road/track with a 20’ van/US truck, from Yass to Tumut?
By the looks of it on the maps there are numerous sharp bends in the dirt track bits.
We coming from Canberra going to Victoria. Any advice on camping spots along this road is much appreciated.
