Its common name, Southern Cross, comes from the resemblance of the inflorescence to the constellation of the same name. The four stalks of the inflorescence create a cross, with clusters of white to pink flowers and bracts on each end. Xanthosia includes about 20 species in total, all of which are endemic to temperate Australia. Xanthosia rotundifolia is native to southwest Australia, naturally occurring in at least three biogeographic regions: Warren, Esperance Plains, and Jarrah Forest.
Family: Apiaceae Genus: Xanthosia Species: rotundifolia Main Flower Colour: White
Member - Tony S (WA)Thu, 02 Apr 2015 09:48:00 GMTXanthosia tomentosahttps://www.bushtrackerownersgroup.asn.au/wildflowers/815+xanthosia-tomentosahttps://www.bushtrackerownersgroup.asn.au/wildflowers/815+xanthosia-tomentosa Family: Apiaceae Genus: Xanthosia Species: tomentosa Main Flower Colour: White
CienneThu, 22 Jan 2015 11:46:00 GMT
