We stopped and had a look. The left side axle was bent backwards. The tow coupling had been removed. We don't know what happened first but the van appeared to have rolled, destroying itself as it went.
Another picture posted today of a tinnie, about 18', also on the Gulf Rd.
We counted 3 exploded 20 ltr fuel drums.
The battery was still connected and remnants of plastic fuel tank fittings were in the wreck.
We surmise that the plastic fuel tank leaked, maybe worn through by the vibrations and either static electricity or the batter did the rest.
Must have looked good in the rear view mirror.

G'day to our little expat.
Look at the 'piccies' in the Old Mornington album.
Then look out your window at the gloom, sleet, rain, hail, snow, mud, slush and the rest of the stuff that makes an English winter.
Then weep baby, weep.
And I rckon these photos deserve a return, a piccie of Angie enjoying the Pommy weather maybe?
