A rally is proposed, I suggest Central Old Sept-Oct.
We need input on possible sites.

To open discussion I suggest Cania Gorge Van Park.

I know it's a van park but it is big and open, you can have a campfire and the operators are very friendly and co-operative.

Other suggestions welcome. Keep in mind it needs to be somewhere where we can reserve space and I think that this cuts out State Forests and Nat. Parks

Sounds good to me. We are currently planning a 6 week trip to the Top End which finishes back in Melbourne at the end of August, so would prefer if the Rally was in October so we have a chance to get our breath. Motley

You BOGers are buggers. Cania Gorge is too far away for us as we can only take extended weekends at this stage. My vote (although I am sure I am outvoted already) is for NSW such as Wee Jasper (approx 4hrs south of SYD - just pass Yass). Or a place called Riverwood Downs in the Barrington Tops area (approx 4 hrs north of SYD). Well, I've thrown my hat in the ring now. Jan

Well we can't fit all requirements so lets go with the majority.

I propose a start date of Wed Sept 3.
This is because I know that some BOGers will be at the Gympie Muster and that finishes Sunday August 30. Most do not leave until the Tuesday and will require time to replenish supplies etc.

I have spoken with the owners at the Cania Gorge Big 4 and they are keen to have us. They will set aside an area with fireplaces etc.
If I have a positive response to the suggested date then I will advise them.
From that point you will need to make your own reservation, just advise them that you are part of the Bushtracker group.

And for those who can't make it this time what about a NSW or Vic based rally in the warm weather. By next summer the grass may be green again down here.

Count us in. Only about 3 hrs from here so I'm laughin.......our caravan club was planning to go there later so I will be able to make an eye witness report. We might organise a safari to the crashed WW2 Liberator bomber in the Kroombit State forest near Biloela. Nomad.

Nomad

Acknowledge your suggestion about Kroombit. Have been there and there is only one place fairly small place where BT's could camp up in the hills. Quite a steep climb for the vans but with care is quite achieveable. Well worth the trip to the bomber.

Sorry Jan & graham, you got outvoted this time by the look of things.
Best answer is for you to sign up 10 more Bushtrackers from NSW and outvote the northern bunch next time.
But if you want it at Yass it better be in the summer or there may be a southern revolution.

Just bringing this subject to the top of the list again.
How does the date fit with the rest of the BOGers?
If inconvenient for many then we try for something more ameanable.

I have just returned from a week at the Big 4 Caravan Park at Cania Gorge. We were there with 5 other couples and even though it rained every day, we had a great time. King Parrots, lorikeets kookaburras all come for a feed as well as betongs after dark. Mum kangaroo and joey camped under our awning each day. Lots of water in lake and fishing was reasonable. There are good walks for the energentic ones in the national park. The sites are large and if we are there in a group they will give us a large area to ourselves where we can park anywhere and have a meeting area in the centre of the vans. The park owners Jim & Faye, and Harry and Madonna are excellent. Jim even took us out in his boat fishing one day and did some welding for me. They came to happy hour with us most nights. Count us in for a return visit with BOG. Faye said to make sure it is outside school holidays as it gets very crowded then.
Early September is suitable with us.

When we have a few more members in BOG how about a meeting at an outback location, like Birdsville or Central Australia.
