I had a chat with a 4WD suspension specialist. It seems ive been a bit harsh on Rancho shocks. Apparently there have been some failures experienced by the hard core off road boys who tend to use them on the hardest setting. In extreeme conditions on the hard setting oil temperature rise and seal failures can occur. In hard conditions the shocks should be used on milder setings. Regarding duel shocks. Duel shocks are used to double oil volume not increase shock stiffness. In duel applications shock absorbers should be revalved to produce overall similar properties to single shocks. So when i fitted duel shock on the OKA in the hard corrugated country in the Kimberly i was probably doing the wrong thing. Steering dampers. Some members of the OKA owners group are investigating the use of truck steering dampers. These are supposed to work well in hard conditions. If any are interested i can report on their perfformance when they are fully evaluated. They are not particularly expensive at around $90. Stay well Vidas
