Where is Copeton Waters ?
Situated on the western slopes of the spectacular New England Ranges, about a 550 km drive from either Brisbane or Sydney, visitors can enjoy a host of activities in this 900 hectare playground.

What's to do?
Explore the bush.
Year round, the lakeside country beckons bushwalkers and nature lovers. If you're a birdlover, look out for the native Regent Honeyeaters. Come for a day, or a longer stay. There are ample campsites, as well as a number of cabins and on-site vans.
Fossick around.
For something completely different, a day or two's fossicking in the nearby diamond and sapphire sites adds sparkle to a holiday.
Fun and relaxation.
Have a barbeque at one of the many areas that have electric, gas or wood barbeque facilities, or go for a picnic in the bush or beside the lake.
Go fishing.
If you like to 'wet a line', fishing on Copeton Lake offers cod, catfish, perch, redfin, and yellow belly. Trout can be caught in the Gwydir River downstream of the dam.
Play wet.
Through spring, summer and autumn, Copeton Lake offers all water sports:

* canoeing
* sailing
* swimming
* water skiing
* whitewater rafting is popular at times when water is released from the dam
Nearby attractions include a honey farm, pioneer village, draughthorse centre and a transport museum.

What facilities are there?
Accommodation for holidaymakers includes:

* 1400 free-form camp sites for tents
* 76 caravan sites with power
* 5 six-bed caravans on-site
* 6 five-bed cabins with ensuites
* a 44-bed bunkhouse for business, social or school groups, with two 'supervisor' rooms included, a fully-equipped kitchen and amenities block, with facilities for the disabled
All these come at very affordable prices.
Function Centre.
Seating up to 50 people, small seminars and weddings, family reunions and group occasions are popular events at Copeton Waters' function centre. It has free BBQ facilities, refrigerator and pantry. A catering service is available, charging very reasonable prices.

Recreation.
Visitors and holidaymakers who like to be active can take advantage of the park's:

* barbeques - electric, gas and wood
* picnic tables throughout the park
* camp kitchen with refrigerator and washing-up facilities
* campfire with seating
* four amenities blocks with hot showers and disabled access

* two free tennis courts (racquets for hire, night lighting for a fee)

Storage facilities are also available for boats and caravans if you want to visit regularly.

Services.
Once you're here, your basic needs are available, such as:

* bait

There's also a café offering sit-down and take-away meals.

This was posted (me) before last rally and just for the newer members ...... Better lay some ground rules ..... The men will gather for serious discussion at certain times, before 7am and after 12 midnight is unacceptable. Dead army to be cleared before breakfast the next morning. Stories are to be encouraged around the campfire. The "lubricant" alcohol may be consumed to elicit them. Sorry Ladies .... No skinny dipping before sunset. Outside lights to be on after dark til midnight to facilitate navigation back to BT. Snorers to close all windows forward the leading axle by 11pm sharp. No gambling ....unless approved by the quorum. It is tempting to save water but only one person per shower cubicle in the amenities please. A casual, social and enjoyable time must be endured every day. No exceptions. Did I forget any ............. ????? Anthony Explore this Great Land ...Do it Easy ...Tow a Bushtracker
