We pull an 18' BT which, when fully laden is about 3 tonne. Safe range is 400 kms when towing and that gets us between most places. We carry three 20 lt jerry cans on the front of BT in remote areas for safety but have only had to use them in anger once. Without the BT we have not carried extra fuel as there is a safe 800 kms in each tank. Friend of mine recently crossed the Simpson and took three 20 lt jerry cans of diesel in a prawn crate for a ride in the back behind a cargo barrier but did not have to use them. Myles
