Left The Lights On?
I have met several vanners who have gone to bed and left the outside light switched on.
Did it myself one night, fortunately on a powered site.
So here is my solution to prevent the problem.
I fitted a red 5mm LED (Light Emitting Diode) in the outside light circuit with the LED positioned where it can be seen from the bed.
In my case this position is on the lower edge of the face of the overhead cabinet.
You need to go to Dick Smiths, Tandy etc and purchase 5mm LED’s, 560 Ohms resistors and plastic LED Bezels.
The resistor is soldered to the + terminal on the LED (The longer of the two terminals) and then connected to the + output side of the light switch or somewhere convenient in the power feed to the lamp.
The other LED terminal to a convenient earth. Protect the connections with heat shrink or tape.
Drill a small hole to accept the LED Bezel, insert LED into Bezel and locate into drilled hole.
Whenever the light is on the LED glows.
Would also be a good indicator for those that have lights in the cargo bay as these can also be left on accidentally.
