I was told of this different type of Brake controller that members might like to investigate. I know nothing about it other that what is on the web sitehttp://www.sensabrake.com/ The following is from that Web site.

Light Trailer | Heavy Trailer
The Sens-a-Brake™ has been engineered to handle the most demanding trailer braking requirements with its unique operating features ensuring the highest product performance and reliability. Sens-a-Brake™ EVO Brake Controller Sens-a-Brake™ Hydraulic Actuator Sens-a-Brake™ Pressure Bleeder NEW RELEASE
Sens-a-Brake™ EVO Brake Controller
The Sens-a-Brake™EVO controller is unique in its operation in that, unlike other brake controllers which are inertia-activated, it instead utilizes a pressure sensitive brake pad that is able to accurately measure the force applied to the brake pedal. As a result, the Sens-a-Brake™ is not affected by external influences such as road surface, road gradient, and vehicle speed. It is a ‘true’ proportional braking system, simply duplicating the braking action of the towing vehicle.

The Sens-a-Brake™ controller is the only brake controller that is able to intelligently determine what method of brake actuation system is fitted to the trailer and adjust its output automatically. This includes electric drum actuators and most electro-hydraulic actuators.

Electric Control Unit
The Sens-a-Brake™ electronic control unit continually monitors the state of the system to ensure safe operation. The early detection of potential faults, such as, lack of air pressure, air leakage, inadequate power feed, excessive duty cycle or trailer disconnection are all continually monitored with the driver informed of any such fault through the Sens-a-Brake™ mouse.

Sens-a-Brake™ Pad (PATENTED)
The patented Sens-a-Brake™ pad incorporates a unique pressure sensitive film that enables accurate measurement of the force being applied to the towing vehicles brake pedal. There are significant benefits in utilizing the measurement of pad force over other control mechanisms, these being: A faster response time Ability to achieve a smoother brake actuation Greater control in emergency situations True proportionality The Sens-a-Brake™ pad mounts easily to the brake pedal of any towing vehicle and simply replaces the existing brake pad rubber.

Sens-a-Brake™ Mouse
The unique 'panic' button incorporated into the Sens-a-Brake™ Mouse enables the driver of the towing vehicle to have total control when in a trailer sway situation. The 'panic' button applies light braking to the trailer independent to that of the car therefore reducing the possibility of jack-knifing and enabling the driver to maintain control. The gain control lever also incorporated into the Mouse enables instant adjustment of trailer braking characteristics.

Sens-a-Brake™Hydraulic Actuator
Pneumatic over Hydraulic Actuator
The common downfall of earlier electro-hydraulic actuators is time-lag or delayed response time. This is due to the delay in receiving a signal from the inertia controller and the time taken for the electric drive motor to pump enough fluid to activate the master cylinder. The Sens-a-Brake™ has addressed this, not only through its advanced electronic controller but, by utilizing a compressed air reservoir to provide instant activation of the hydraulic master cylinder. This has resulted in an unparalleled response time.
Technical Specifications: Activation Method: Electric/Pneumatic/Hydraulic Activation Time: 0.55 seconds to 1000psi Max. Hyd Pressure: 1000PSI (Sens-a-Brake actuator) Power Requirements: 12VDC, 20 Amps Note: The Sens-a-Brake™actuator must only be operated with the Sens-a-Brake™ brake controller

Breakaway
The Sens-a-Brake™ hydraulic actuator incorporates breakaway intelligence, a safety feature that automatically activates the trailer brakes when the trailer is separated from the towing vehicle. Unlike other breakaway systems, this feature does not require additional componentry such as a safety activation cable or additional battery source. The Sens-a-Brake ™ breakaway system remains activated until the trailer is re-connected to the towing vehicle or the air pressure is dumped.

Sens-a-Brake ™ Pressure Bleeder
The Sens-a-Brake ™Pressure Bleeder provides a fast and efficient method of bleeding hydraulic braking systems such as the Sens-a-Brake™ Actuator. The Sens-a-Brake™ Pressure Bleeder pressurizes the brake fluid allowing it to pass through the master cylinder and onto the caliper bleeder valves. When the bleeder valves are opened, the pressurized fluid containing any air bubbles will be forced out through the bleeder valves.

Interesting to say the least ..... I know some of the younger guys putting aftermarket brake pedal pads (slip on and hold with tabs) are being pinched by police. Must be an ADR thing that makes this practice illegal. Might be ok in N. Z. ??? Have to be good to outperform a Prodigy. Anthony Explore this Great Land ...Do it Easy ...Tow a Bushtracker
