The Dec issue of Caravan&Motorhome mag has a review of a Kedron van which is fitted with a roof mounted sat dish. This unit seems to be able to be raised and lowered from inside the van and can be programmed to search for satellites automaticly. More info is available at www.smartsat.com.au.
Does anyone have any experience with, info on, or opinions about this product?

Stephen these have been about for a while now and the word is they will shake to bits on anything but a flat road. Being a fixture you can't park under a tree as well to line up the satellite. The bloke at Dingo Beach seems ro be the best deal around at the moment for around a grand. His is similar to the Abrolga. One of the things that concerns me with a expensive dish is the threat of theft. Having to pack it up and set it up every day would be a PITA.

Or set yourself up for half the price by purchasing the items required yourself.

We have just purchased all the gear required for a stellite TV in a BT, and it only cost me under $650. Cobra Dave tuned the box in for me today, and it works really well.....thanks David..... all we need now is the van !

Macka,
This looks like something good. If you are prepared to spend so much money and heave such a monster rig onto your roof then it would be a good solution for internet access. There is plenty of information about it on the www.
