The following is an extract from an article in Caravan World magazine where “The Expert” is discussing weight regulations.
I quote
If you were towing a conventional caravan with a ute, then neither the ball/pin weight nor the loaded weight of the caravan affects the maximum load that can be carried in the ute tray.
However when towing a fifth wheeler with that same ute the pin/ball weight of the fifth wheeler is subtracted from the maximum load that can be carried in the ute tray.
End quote.

So this writer is saying that if you put 1 tonne in a 1 tonne ute and then hook up a van with a ball load of 300 kg all is OK.

Maybe I am not as smart as these experts, perhaps some of our members can explain how in this case 1,300 kg on a 1,000 kg ute does not equate to an overloaded ute.
