HAving toured through NSW and Queensland (10 weeks and wife and 3 kids and me all still talking....) we are now about to head across from Port Douglas to Katherine. Has anyone recently taken the Savannah way accross the gulf? Any feedback on road/track conditions and particulalry, places to camp would be much appreciated. I am aware that Wollogorang Station is now closed to travellers, and am stuggling to find any stations that either officially or unofficially welcome responsible bush campers. Failing that I guess its Burketown, Hells Gate, Borroloola, Roper Bar. As i say any info much appreciated.

Rob,

Have a look at Post Ids 1487 & 1434. They both deal with the fact that a lot of the areas you have mentioned may not be open any more.

Have a look at my reply on one of these posts about Bowthorn Station. We camped there 2 years ago and it was sensational
