Just bought a pre loved 19'bushtracker and planning to tow with a landcruiser diesel ute - 1hz motor.
any clues on good dealers who fit & tune after market turbo systems to suit in Melbourne - northen suburbs would be great - or possibly Bendigo or Ballarat

Yep, we second this motion and advice! They doctored our sick turbo and made the vehicle fly!

A little further afield I know, but over the years we have had three turbos fitted by "Berrima Diesel" just out of Sydney near Moss Vale, 1 to a 2.8lt. Hilux and the last 2 to 100 series land cruisers with which we tow our 18' B.T..
We live in Sth east Qld. and just work Berrima into a trip if we have too but there are other workshops fitting them around Aust., including

Dandenong PH. (03) 9792 2058,

Laverton Nth, (03) 9315 1633.

Berrima is a father and so operation and we have in all occasions been very happy with the results, Their Turbos (Dynamic), also have water passing through them as well as oil which I believe (as an ex mechanic from many moons ago),is a plus.
Any way it's more food for thought,
regards Tony.

I have just fitted a safari turbo to my 80 series, it is a very good kit, looks like it was made by Toyota. I have fitted a pyrometer [ exhaust temp. guage ] It is the best way to tell if you are working the engine to hard or if it has had the fuel turned up to much. Get your car tuned on a dyno if you can and tell them that you will be towing a large caravan. They will probably detune a little as the engine will be working harder than normal. If you are running over 500deg.C exhaust temp. a lot it will shorten the life of the engine. Maybe even blow it up. Most kits will do the job, finding someone who knows how to tune a diesel is hard part. I live in Mackay QLD. and am having no luck here. Hope this helps. And yes I think it is worth doing, makes it go how it should, still not a race car but pulls up the hills a lot better.

regards Andrew
