I want to transfer the "Contacts" database from my main PC to my Laptop.

I am using MS Outlook for my emails and I know that it is done through FILE and Import/Export but there are a number of formats listed and the ones that I have tried so far don't work.

Can anyone assist with the correct proceedure to do so please.

Brian,

With exporting/importing my Yahoo contacts, I had to go to Yahoo first to generate a file on my desktop that could then be imported. Then the option was given in Outlook for importing a file to transfer the contacts. Maybe you need to find the way to generate the file first.

Sorry, not sure what else to suggest.

Easy Brian.
Do an auto backup of the address book and copy it to the other computer.
It automatically does it's own formatting if any is required.

Anyhow it's that easy on a Mac.

If you are using WIndows, Outlook has an export function under File/Export which will compress all your contacts, calendar and whatever into a database. Save to a file in My Documents, copy across to new PC, then use the Import function on your new PC to load back in.

You need to export it as a Personal Folder File - .PST

Using office 2003 -
File - export to a file - Next
Comma sepparted values (windows)
Make sure the folder contacts is highlighted and choose "Next"
Browse and choos where you want to save the file ( if you want to tranfere it to another computer a memory stick would be a good location. Name your file and "OK".
Choose next and finished.
To import the file -
File - import - import from another file
choose Comma separted value ( windows ) - Next
Browse to find the file and choose whether or not to import duplicates - Next
make sure contacts folder is highlighted and Next and finished.

Thanks everyone,

I followed Neil's instructions and it worked this time.

Just shows, that if you don't know how to do something, someone on the BOG site will be able to help you if you ask the question.

Ah Angie - another T bag folding enthusiast? My daughter has discovered this - we all go wonderful Christmas cards. If you allow for the time taken to make them, they'd be worth about $100 each. Her bed is covered with all these amazing designs.
