Hi Mark,
yep it was a bad, we thought it was going to hit us at Karratha as our CILinsurance stated that the BT was not covered with a named cyclone.... so we did a bolt south 330k to yarramie river took the chook and left the roos (they love storms they just back up to a tree) came back alls well only 27mm rain here. Now another bloody blow! with TC Jacob this time it looks like a direct hit on Karratha, we are packed and ready to load the chook and head off again! not sure south or north with this one, nowhere near as intense as George. Will wait till midday tommorow before deciding. Went through Vance 19th March 1999 in Exmouth WA saw a tree with a truck a metre wide fly past my kitchen window, just before the wall and the roof went as well so we are a little bit paranoid with these systems!
Take care
Paul and Beccy

G'day Mark. We are at Newman, and have been on high alert for the last couple of days with "George". Turns out it was a bit of a fizzer with hardly any rain or wind even as it passed by here. The next one may be another matter though as the wind is a lot more noticeable and we have had more rain already, even though Jacob has not yet crossed the coast. We both are survivors of Tracey in Darwin '74 and are very much aware of how much you have to be prepared. Luckily though, we are 450 ks or so inland and most of the bluster will be gone by the time it reaches here. Still makes the heart miss a beat every time a gust of wind hits us though............
Cheers, Jan O & Easy
