Has anyone had experience with the latest model Jeep Cherokee Diesel - v6 3l diesel tow capacity 3500kg, in terms of general on road off road activity, not servere off road?

We towed our 20ft BT (gross weight 3.2 tonnes] for 18mths with a 5 cylinder Jeep Cherokee Diesel.400 Nm Torque. Destinations included the Snowy Mountains,(seriously steep)Mt Moffitt and Salvador Rosa in the Carnarvon Nat Park (off road but not severe).
. The biggest problem was with 300 Kg on the drawbar we were only able to put 150 Kg in the back of the car with out over loading the car.
6mths ago we changed to a Jeep Commander, same V6 Diesel (510Nm) as the 07 Cherokee. But with a far greater carrying capacity because it is a 7 seater.
It uses about 2 ltrs/100 more diesel than the old 5 cylinder. The V6 about 11 ltr not towing and 20 ltrs/100 towing. This would be slightly more than the V6 Cherokee, because it weighs more.Gross legal just under 3 tonnes.
In standard form the Commander has not got the ground clearance of a Landcruser, but lots more Torque, we think it gives a better ride,
If we had to drive a truck in our retirement we would sell the BT
(Could not resist this last comet.)
