Does anyone know what turning circle is needed for a 5m towing vehicle, with a turning circle of 11.4m, towing a 17ft (5.18m) van. The length of the van from apex of A frame to back of van is 7.02 m (23.1ft). We are modifying our driveway at home and need to know for the plans to go to Council. Many thanks.

Need more input to compute:
For instance, what tow vehicle? Length of tow vehicle and wheelbase? Type of hitch as in how far it hangs out the back to enable full 90 degree rotation? Many variables.
How about hooking it up and measuring a comfortable full lock over turn in a Coles Supermarket??

Thanks to both
Bushtracker & Turist. It seems the Coles carpark approach is the way to go.

First find the Council requirements then submit a turning circle calculation that complies.
Finding what they want first is one way to beat the buggers.
If you tell them it's 25 metres they will want 26 metres, you can bet on it.

I see you have dealt with Councils.....
It took them three months to approve our Arena after they already had approved the fully engineered plans... And then they did not change a thing...
That is what is wrong with big Government, they are all worried about keeping their jobs and justifying their existance... Good Humour there Turist...

Craigievar,
Don't know the specs but my cruiser pulling a 19BT with a full 300mm extension on the drawbar is pretty bloody good. I can do a U turn on most roads.
Cheers John
