We came up the Tanami a couple of days ago and confirm that the Rabbit Flat fuel stop is open 7 days due family assistance. The track is good up to 100km north of Rabbit Flat were it becomes corrugated.

Thank you for the news - nice to know, as we are closely watching all reports (especially recent ones) of conditions NW of the "Centre".. Any news on fuel prices along the way? Any news on water lying about?

No water on the road some small amounts along side in a few places. Fuel at Rabit flat was $2 a ltr. Do not recommend going to Yuendumu, however Wolf Creek Crater is worth a stop. Fuel at Halls Creek was $146.50 for diesel.

Thanks Bernie,
Just being flippant here now! Was that $146.50 per Litre? Hopefully may be $1.465 per litre or better still $146.50 for a FULL load of 145 litres! :-)
Just joshing about - Cheers - Ian & Sally

Yuendumi is worth a visit if you are interested in aboriginal art. They have a good gallery & you can watch the artists at work. However you need to ask someone where to find the gallery, as it is not signposted.

Another point of interest is the Solar Power Station, again worth a visit if this is your interest.

Also if you remember a couple of years ago, the ABC television program of "bush mechanics", this is where it was filmed.

Further along, if you are staying at Tilmouth Well, ask them about visits on their property to LakeLewis, and their "mini Ayers Rock", both worth a visit. You will need gate keys for both of these visits

The longer you are on the Tanami, there is much more to see.

Thanks for the tip Bernie as we will be travelling the Tanami in approx 3 weeks time from Halls creek to Alice. We were going to be going through Rabbit Flat on one their non open days so was intending to top up at Billiluna and a couple of Jerry cans to get us through to Tilmouth but looks like I won't have to bother with that now.

Cheers
