One of my water pumps isn't working. I have an 18' BT, 2000 model. Are there any tips out there? Can't seem to find a fuse between the pump and the switch.

Rod,
I don't believe that there is any fuse between the switch and pumps as there is a circuit breaker at the switches near the solar regulator.

I suppose you have checked that something hasn't knocked the second switch in the cupboard and turned it off there, or the joiner near the pump hasn't come apart.

All I can suggest is to unplug the wires at the joiners and check for power there with a multimeter, and/ or using another power source put power to the pump and see if it works. If it doesn't then it looks like a pump problem, but they are pretty reliable and you don't hear of them failing.

Hi Rod

If it isn't power to the pump as Brian has explained - it may be the pressure switch has failed although you would usually notice the pump making weird noises before a total no go. The switch is replaceble for abouut $65

Wayne, where is the pressure switch? One of our pumps sometimes tries hard and drawers a lot of power - thought pump on the way out.

Thanks

The pressure switch is located on the end of the pump closest to you when you look at it - about 1" square - if you remove the cover you can adjust the switch by turning the screw in the center of the switch. My pumps are Flojet 4405-143, these and spare parts are available from www.creativepumps.com.au. The pressure switch is part number 02090-104 (a 35 psi switch). I'm not sure that your description is typical of a pressure switch problem is it actually pumping water and turn itself of and on ?

If you try the adjustment and it improves the operation you will know you are on the right track you can order on line from Creative Pumps and they stock other spares for the Flojet range.

Just because Steve isn't posting for the moment doesn't mean he will not come to your aid if you call or email him at BT!

Cheers, Jay

Thanks everyone,
There is power to the pump and the second one is working perfectly. I'll swap them today as it will be easier to do without the drinking water. Steve, do you suggest I try to have the pump repaired or bite the bullet and buy another? Do you have a price? Thanks, Rod.

Hi Rod

Have you checked the pressure switch yet ?

I think you will find this is the problem.
