1/We are designing an annexe, we would like to have 2 doors, 1 at front and other at back with 2 side windows (20ft van) does anyone else have this design? Do you think your way is better if different and why?
2/ We were going to put the microwave under the bench, or in side of pantry facing bench at bench level at the back, Best use of space would be under bench but we are thinking that it would be too low, where did you put your microwave and are you happy with it there?

We have a door at each end, almost the full depth of the end panels.
The front panel is also able to be opened (rolled up) for almost the entire length.
All openings are backed by insect screen.
So in hot weather you can open it up to almost a screen room.
Very versatile design.
Our microwave is under the bench top and it gives no problem.
A caution about fitting them too high, a spill when removing hot product could go all over you, a dangerous way to install in my opinion.
Regards
Bob

Hi there,
we had our microwave above our fridge, we dropped the 190l fridge right down to the floor and had the microwave above that then had a small cupboard above that, they made the cupboard full height.
We found this worked great as the microwave was the right height just in front and not too high.
Just a question is your annexe your designing from aussie traveller or are you having it specially made?

I believe that unless you are intending to spend a lot of time in one place, or living in your van full time then you would probably be better to just get the awning and use the van for a while before buying the walls.
We have a full awning that we have had since new (2001) and it has only been used about 5 times in that time, Many other BT owners also have the walls the rarely get used.

I have put our microwave under bench at almost floor level as I wanted to get the most out of our pot draws and dont really use the microwave that much. I just load some pictures so you can see our design.
Hope this helps

G'day Ian & Sheryl,
"kids grow up, and with lots of encouregement leave home" AND can come back at anytime thereafter.....even with grandchild in tow.
Just to complete the statement so you can be fully prepared for life ahead!. We recently had our daughter and grandson enjoy some BT experience with us, and they had a single pole tent which went up beside the annexe. Some camps we didn't even put the awning out, so having the tent gave us that flexibility.
Like Brian, we started without walls and skirt for the Aussie Traveller. When planning a trip through the Centre we heard of the fly problem, so we then added the full screen walls (with door at each end) and the skirt.......perfect!
If we do need a little extra shade or privacy on any side, we carry 2 small tarps (silver/black 1800x2400). They can hang vertically against the gause inside or outside, or pulled out at an angle for better air flow.
We used to carry a microwave, and it was rarely used so now it stays in the garage at home. Our initial thoughts were not to have it built in, as keeping it separate gave the option of having it on top of the fridge, on the rear bench, or on the Drifta camp kitchen which we put up outside.
As we prefer camping "anywhere but in a caravan park", we mostly cook on the campfire. The Drifta has a gas frypan, and the van stove with 4 burners, grill and oven is not just there for decoration!
A microwave takes up as much space as a dozen bottles of our favourite wine!!
Cheers..............Rob and Liz

Ian & Sheryl,
We had our microwave put down low to keep weighty objects down low and we don't use it all that much so out of the way.
When we spoke with fellow BT owners about annexs saying that the full walls take up a lot of room and they rarely use them. We then saw a full tennex annex setup, this is the small midgee flywire, all round and it was great so that is what we have with a door at one end and one at the other end but in the long wall.
Cheers
Stewart
