Have read archive post on adding LPG to diesel, Just wondering if anyone has updated info on this subject.

Howdy Brian & Linda,
We VERY SERIOUSLY considered Diesel on Gas for our TOJO. All the research and the written experiences of quite a few people were so positive. The $2000 cash back from Canberra was a plus too.
Then we went Turbo - why? Because;
We read in the RAA magazine, from letters to the Editor, that people wrote in to say they were being left in the lurch by at least three servos between Alice Springs and Darwin due to a company not keeping up the supply to the servos in the NT.
So we went turbo and were glad because when in Broome last July the servos ran out of LPG and people were left for a few days before supplies came in. Then we saw at Sandfire Road House that the same supplier to the NT was not servicing the pumps nor replenishing supplies and the lady on duty informed me that at least two vehicles had been trucked back south to the nearest LPG and had their holiday trip severely curtailed.
We are very glad we did not go to Diesel on Gas.
Oh Yes - we saw LPG at $1.20 in some isolated servos as well!
Cheers - Ian & Sally

We have very recently had Team Green Autogas at Roclea in Brisbane fit their LPG fumigation system to our 2003 turbo diesel Landcruiser. We are still to tow the BT so can't tell you much yet except that the Dyno readings show a significant increase in power which you can also feel when you drive the car. Hope to get away for a short trip with the BT shortly to test it properly.

We had our 1994 Nissan Patrol 4.2L Diesel converted to Diesel Gas at Clontarf (Brisbane)this year.

First let me clarify a point that appears to have gone astray within the above thread.

The conversion never runs a diesel engine on LPG alone. It would blow up.

The Diesel Gas system continues to run on Diesel while adding LPG to the air intake to the manifold. If you run out of Diesel the engine stops as it does pre conversion. If you run out of LPG however the engine continues to function although be it at a reduced HP output compared to Diesel Gas and continues to run as it would have pre conversion.

Diesel fuel is normaly a slow burning fuel and the fuel is normaly still burning as the piston pushes the burnt & unburnt residue out through the exhaust valve.

By adding a small amount of LPG to the intake air, the combustion process is more efficient, provides an increase in power output, and the combustion process is reportedly cooler.

Our 4.2L was originaly naturaly aspirated. To get more power, particularly in 4th gear, I had a Schwitzer turbo fitted and 2.5 inch exhaust installed, and this helped to a degree. However as with all things, more is thought to be better, so I had the Turbo'd motor converted to Diesel Gas.

Result; On Turbo'd straight Diesel = 95 HP to the ground
On Turbo'd Diesel Gas = 115 HP to the ground
on a Dynomometer

Additional Recommendations :
Ensure radiator is clean and in top condition. Once you have the power, you will us it, and this generates heat which must be dissapated.
Install Pyrometer to monitor exhaust gas temps even if the engine is only turbo'd & not also gassed. Indicates how hard you can now make the motor work and might save you from being the cause of melted piston tops on those very long hard pulls.(This can happen with just a Turbo installed)
A Boost gauge is also useful to monitor the output of the Turbo

Our conversion was undertaken by Stuart Kaiser of Hycraft Automotive
63 Snook Street
CLONTARF

Ph 07 3283 3868

Stuart also does Deisel Gas conversions for interstate trucks.

We are very happy with the result and the $2000 back from the Govt is good also.
