Hi
Has anyone mounted the LG 550/500 car kit in a Toyota LC - if so where did you put the components - it might save us a lot of trial and error.
Thanks
Wayne

We have connected it in the GMC and works great Blutooth straight to the GPS Nuvu really did not need the car kit at all.

G'day Wayne,
We had a previously fitted CDMA antenna on the LC100, when we changed to the LG TU550 Next G phone, which is compatible with the same antenna. We added the wireless Blue Ant hands free unit which clips on the sun visor. This unit can be transferred from car to car so you can have hands free capability....even in someone else's car. In other words you can go hands free without any wiring.
The mounting for the phone is just one of those air vent clip-on devices.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers.......................Rob

Hey Rob......do you want to elaborate a bit on what the Blue Ant is and how much it cost etc and how it works etc etc? I just bought a TU550 and the girl in the shop said the car kits were around $400.00 plus fitting OUCH!!! I'll do anything to not pay that sort of money especially since we had to leave the last car kit in the Cruiser when we sold it....;after all it belonged to a phone which is now defunct. I hate spending money on something which is basically useless at Telstra's whim!
We left the arial on the car too as we were told that the cdma ones would not be able to be used for 3g phones.
Cheers, Jan O

I was given a Blue Ant hands free unit with my latest phone, at the time they were retailing for $125 but have since seen them cheaper. I believe, however, that there are better units on the market.
Each time that I get in the car I have to switch the unit on and have it recognise my phone, I believe that some of the better units "log on" by themselves.
Now having said that, the unit does work well and is convenient, especially when you are driving different cars.
Paul.

You can fit an external antenna to most phones even when the manufacturer says you can not.
All you need is the correct fly lead to connect the phone to the antenna co-ax cable.
This mob have a surprising range, got one from them for my Motorola V6 and Motorola and Telstra say "Not possible"

Different description for the same thing.
"Fly Lead" = "Patch Lead"
Select your phone from the list on the left of their web page and it will list all accessories for that phone.
Look for an antenna patch lead with FME adaptor to suit antenna co-axial cable.
They also have antennaes if you need one.
Or just send me a blank cheque and I'll sort it out for you. 'Easy' that way. Ha

Hi, I have fitted the LG550 with car kit to the Toyota LC 100 series. The mute comes on every time you turn the right hand indicator on, and the signal strength is no better in the kit. I have had the installation checked by the "professionals" with no success. I am concerned that the kit is not a genuine LG unit - it has no brand. Anyone had similar problems?
