Thanks Beccy for setting up your website to share your trip with us. I will have a really good look in a couple of weeks (we are off to Bali on Saturday). I am especially interested in the Kimberley and NT as i hope that will be where our next trips take us.

Dear Beccy
Thanks, I enjoyed your Gibb River road trip. I will have a go at the others another night. My husband & I have had enough of the camper and are considering buying a BT. This web site has convinced us.
Cheers

Hi Paul and Beccy
Thanks for your travel notes.I read with interest your notes on the Gibb River Rd,etc. We are from South West Rocks NSW. and spent 5 months last year in W,A. The Kimberly area was one of our favourite places.Yes the Gibb Rd.sees some terrible accidents.Like you we travelled just after daylight for 4 or 5 hrs and avoided most of the maniacs. We witnessed 2 so called off road caravans totaly destroyed on that road. They were both new,the sales people said they would go anywhere.Looking forward to some more photos,Bob

Like some 4x4 owners who believe their vehicle will go anywhere (instead of just getting deeper in the poo) There are some caravan owners who think their rigs are bullet proof and can be overloaded, driver fast over horrendous corrugations with rock solid tyres with impunity.

Some of the worst offenders on the GRR are the 4x4 hire camper vehicles with overseas visitors intending to see as much as possible in the least possible time. (sic) For some three days on the Gibb would be a day too long.

I will be heading (hopefully) that way early next year before the lunatic brigade arrive. May spend a bit of time at some rivers waiting for flood levels to recede - bonus is that the fishing will be good.

Tip for cooking the local Black Bream (Sooty Grunters) Don't scale' gut ot stick a knife in anywhere except the brain to kill the fish cleanly. Now rake out some coals to the side of the fire as soon as the white ash covers the coals drop them directly onto these coals - 5 to 7 mins a side depending on size.

When ready lift off the skin, scales etc off - all in one piece on one side - season and devour. Flip and ditto other side. The gut contracts into a tight little ball - fish is cooked in its own juices and is absolutely superb. Backbone and skin etc go back into the fire for no washing up. Yum!

Regards

John
