Taking a BT overseas?

Has anyone heard of a BT being taken overseas? Some friends of ours (4 couples) with Kimberley campers and the like are keen to travel from Malaysia to Cape Town (driving with campers). The "leader" (an old friend from Isa) worked as a tour guide operator in Africa for some years. He has lots of stories to tell much like those from "The Gods Must be Crazy".
