For F250 owners please.
Is it normal for the power steering to not work when the vehicle is stationary, but works quite well when moving?
Or do I have a problem?
Regards Peter.

Hi Peter,

I have never found our steering to be one finger light when parked, it is not stiff nor difficult but not light like the past Cruisers ive owned, once slightly moving it feels fine i put this down to the larger tyres i have fitted and weight over the axle.

Hi Peter,
We had a similar problem with one of ours when you were stationary or trying to park, unfortunately it would not play up when we took it to the dealer and they wouldnt believe me and my diagnosis.(Which was either the pump or steering box.)
After four visits to the dealer and leaving it with them for a week it finally happened to them.Replaced the power steering pump and no more problems.

Regards
Rex

Hi Guys

The problem you talk about is quite normal.
The power steering and the brakes all run off one pump as engine revs are increased so does pump output.

You can buy after market high volume pumps on the powerstroke web site.
JUST TRY A LITTLE LEFT FOOT BRAKING and increase the revs you will see your steering is lighter.
