How often do you change the oil in the F250s? 5,000 or 10,000 kms?

Thanks

Hi David, we have purchased and brought oil with us, but are unsure if it should be changed at 5,000 kms as we do with the 3 litre Nissan, or 10,000 as we do with the Landcruisers. How often do you change the oil?

G'day Motherhen,
according to the service book its every 7500kms but as we do trips through the outback we are not always close to a Ford Dealership or any other workshop for that matter....so sometimes we stretch it out to 10'000kms but always replace the oilfilter with every oilchange. In other words....I change the oil and filter when ever I have the opportunity even if I'm over or under the 7500kms.It works for me.
Regards
Adrian

The other important thing to change is the Transmission fluid.

Ours wasn't fully changed just the sump drained and refilled 3 times in 170,000 km and then a spring went inside and had to be a partial rebuild.

The auto transmission people in Dandenong Victoria who I believe know what they are talking about say that we should changed the fluid every 30,000 km and to do that you have to disconnect a pipe on the transmission cooler and pump it out of the converter or otherwise you will only be changing nearly 5 litres from the sump and not the for 16 litres (from Memory) that is in the entire system.

We also try to change every 7500 but have stretched it out to 10,000 several times.
