Having not been in the area for a number of years we decided to spend a couple of days in Charleville while in transit to the Rally. As Bush Camping was not an option, we want to spend time in town, we had a look at Badger and the town parks all seemed a bit small with one exception, Evening Star, albeit some 10 or so k's out of town.
The setup, which has only operated since February & in some ways is still a work in progress, is about 10k out on the Adavale Road and a great spot. Long sites suited to F250 + BT with green grass. New amenities, wood fire facilities etc. $23 per night for powered site.
Anyone on their way to Quilpie wanting to spend some time in Charleville could not, in my view, find a better spot.
