Just wondering what is used to clean the surface of the Thetford (bowl, cover).
The manual says to not use normal toilet cleaners as they can damage the rubber seals.
Any suggestions?

Hi Rick
The man from Thetford at the Brisbane Camping Show last June advised that Mr Sheen Aerosol is good for maintaining the surface without abrasion.

Do I guess that also means it won't damage the seals, e.g. on the blade?

We wipe olive oil on the seal as part of our regular maintainance.

I do that too.
But I'm assuming many of the normal toilet bowl cleaners, even if they are OK with plastics (e.g. normal plastic toilet seats), damage the seals of the Thetford, and possibly also interfere with the chemicals. That's what I'm trying to avoid.
Perhaps we just stick with water; can't go wrong with that. The Mr Sheen idea sounds good for the "outside", but not so sure if it would be good in the bowl where it will eventually end up in the bottom tank??

We have been using Mothers Plastic Polish for several years and no apparent side affects.
Makes the bowl nice and slippery as well.

Also use it on plastic sink, plastic ensuite mirror and plastic windows.

Mothers is a brand ..... similar to Meguires, it's one of the better brands for use in high end detailing / polishing.

The plastic polish does just as the name suggests.

Almost any auto spares outlet that stocks a broad range of car detailing products.
Try Supacheap, they nearly always have it in stock.
