Hi Everyone

Just had our CIL Insurance Renewal for our 2008 20' BT.

The Yearly Insurance Premium on Agreed Value of $119,947.00 is $1501.47

Is this high compared to what other BT owner's are paying?

We went with them because we had read good reports on their excellent

service in time of need.

Seems a bit high, but maybe not??

Cheers

Ours is a 2008 19ft insured by CIL for $110000 and costs $1278.77.

We pay monthly at $106.56 which is the same as yearly but fits finances easier.

Just looked up ours - renewed June last year. $556.23 including GST stamp duty and apportioned share of broker fee. Selected value $60,000. 1998 18'. I note no contents included, as they are part of household temporarily removed - but i may re-assess this at renewal this year.

When comparing insurance cover, make sure you are comparing apples with apples. You may think you are getting a bargain if your quote is lower than other companies, but are they offering the same service.
A good example of this is that CIL paid in full to transport my 18ft BT from Albany W.A. to my front door on the Gold Coast Qld when I was unable to drive due to a severe back injury. It cost them over $4000.00 I have a quote from RACQ to renew my cover, and was delighted with the lower cost by $600. However, when I read the small print, they would only spend $500.00 to transport my BT to the nearest "Safe place" or repairer. On top of that, they would not insure my BT for an agreed value, but they would take my money to do that. In the small print, they said they insure the vehicle for "Agreed value, or market value whichever is the less". So you think you are paying for an agreed value, but in fact you are paying for market value.
Needless to say, I will be renewing with CIL again. Their service is tops and you get what you pay for. Regards, Keith & Joan.

Our July 08 Van is Insured with CIL for $120,000 Premium $1,020.
We were at Adelaide caravan and camping show yesterday and got a quote from the CIL stand [cheking on agent] and got the same quote.
We were also told that we could retain that agreed value without a valuation.[to the original purchace cost.]
It seams that only Bushtracker and one other make [Trackmaster ?] will hold there value acording to the CIL rep.
Cheers

Just picked up our new 20ft BT 12 days ago. Insured it with CIL for agreed value of $130,000. Premium was $1247 per year and we pay monthly.
Your premium does seem high.

I've been following this thread with interest. We have our December 2008 19' also insured with CIL. Van insured for $127,154.00 and A&E awning for $2200.00. with a premium of $1543.00.

Have just contacted CIL regarding the difference between our price and Tony's premium and have been told that price varies depending upon what State we each live in and the number of claims for that particular state. The CIL rep said that Qld was by far the dearest state to insure in due to storm damage, closely followed by NSW because of the number of hail damage claims within the past 12 months.

Ross
