We are considering buying a 20ft BT. We have to update our tow vehicle.
The Toyota Troopy is ideal except for lack of rear passenger doors.
The Toyota 70 series 4.5Ltr wagon would be better but I am not sure about the shorter wheel base for towing.
Has anyone had experience towing with the Wagon?

Hullo Wayne & Sue,

I tow my soon to be sold 16 ft Trakmaster with a TDV8 trayback and it is fine. Big difference going to a 20 ft BT tho.

Don't forget that the TDV8 wagon is exactly the same power/torque as a 100 series. Have you thought about a 100 series auto? Much more comfortable, auto box, heaps of accessories already available. The TDV8 wagon has only one 90 litre fuel tank too.

cheers

Hi Wayne & Sue

We have been towing our 21 footer behind the 4.5ltr wagon for the past couple of months and have not encountered any problems....works well for us.

Hi Sue and Wayne,
We have the 70 series (conventional) Workmate and she tows the BT beautifully. We have altered the interior to make travel a little more comfortable, ie bucket seats, and have put in a subfloor to provide under floor storage (have retained rear seating though). We considered 200 series but it did not fit our off road needs (doing the CSR this month). We are very happy with our choice.
