Has anyone found a product to clean the Aussie Traveller awning. Ours is very marked, could have been put away when wet or damp and has some ugly marks on the underside.

I have not attempted any cleaning products as yet. Would be interested to hear any theories.

I have used liquid washing machine detergent mixed with warm water. Theory, if its ok for clothes its ok for canvas. I use a reasonably stiff broom to scrub it then hose off. The top is ok to wash , the underside gets you a bit wet, do it on a warm day.

That all works well but just be careful when brushing off. It's easiest to lower the awning along side the van. Be careful though............
Don't brush the awning while it's in contact with any protruding bits on the van. You could protentially put pin holes in the canvas.
Get your offsider to hold the awning out away from the van

There are specific canvas cleaners available.
I use NappySan on the boat covers and it does a good job.
Whatever you use will have a detrimental affect on the waterproofing and the canvas should be re-proofed after a good clean.

Bradmill and others have a canvas dressing that works well, the seagull s%#t just hoses off.
Available from Camec if nowhere else

Thanks all,

I will try the mild detergent.

I also rang Aussie Traveller who suggested the same.

I think the underside is just about past cleaning although the canvas is still in good condition.

Thanks again for lyour input.
