As promised for Yogi & Muffin. We came across the Plenty and Donahue Hwys 2 days ago. We had heard it was really good about 4 weeks ago but that must have been before the School Holiday traffic.

I wouldn't call it bad but I'd say about a quarter of the Plenty is starting to corrigate in the sandy patches but not badly yet. "Warp speed" as I call it ( when the vehicle speed gets over the harmonic bouncing to a bearable chatter ) was about 65/70 km/hr with 20/22 psi in the tyres so we could travel about 70/80 km which for me is not bad. Lots of dips and floodways keep you on your toes but the main result is low fuel consumption from the braking/accelerating. We only managed about 27 litres/100km in the LC200.

The first 50 km or so of the Donahue gets down to track width ( It's a local "road" ) but it gets better and better as you get toward Boulia.

Hope the Cairns conference went well.

Good luck. Nigel & Dawn ( Lost & Frowned )
