Dometic windows - installation and coverings

Ours (I thought all) are installed with the blockout pulling up from the bottom and insect screen from the top to clip them together. And yes it does give good privacy with airflow still possible.
We have the cafe style table in the middle of the van setup, and it gives a beautifully large picture window - but it is very difficult for me to clip the two together because of the distance between the two clipping devices, Col with longer reach does not seem to have this problem at all. This was one of those things we did not anticipate of course. A pretty minor issue I think.
Have a try on someones van with the large window. You could probably choose a slightly reduced size window if either of you find this a real problem with any of yours.

We have curtains which could be drawn for extra insulation. They have a fabric covered pelmet and fabric tie back.

You will have lots of these questions answered when you get to the factory.

Also there are lots of the "newer" vans travelling. Many questions would be answered if you were to catch up with some recent owners.
Are you likely to get to the BT Muster this year.

Just a comment, if you don't mind. I think we are similar personalities. I really obsess over what end up being relatively minor issues. When we were going through the "ordered but not yet built" stage I banged heads quite a bit with Steve and Matt over what I wanted and didn't want. They presented their reasons for not doing certain things and, at the time, I thought: Huurrumph, I'm the customer!!

Now that I've spent some time in the van, we just came back from 18,000kms there and back, I can see that, by and large, all BT's reasons were valid and what I initially looked upon as a compromise is actually a good result.

So please don't worry yourself too much over things that can be easily sorted out at the factory. You don't want to re-visit all that anxiety you and BT endured a couple of years ago. (I understand what you went through, I had a little trip down that avenue myself).

Jay they are all "blind pulls up from the bottom and screen pulls down from the top." In my humble opinion, this is the best way to have them. One thing I would have liked to have known about ,in hindsight is this.....the size of the window they put in the lounge section of the van is in my view not big enough. I am tall, but I still have to crane my neck to see out of the van through that window! The window seems very narrow vertically. I think Matt's "lite" van has a larger (deeper) window in that one side.....ask him!
