Hi
Just wandering if anyone else has had problems with their Dometic Toilet
Our Bushtracker is less than a year old and we are on our fourth cassette -all others have leaked one way or another in to the hold and also we sometimes have a leak out onto the shower floor, slide has been difficult to use and the flush mechanism and lights now don't work. (its not a fuse as the red light still comes on when you take the cassette completely out). It is going in for another warranty repair in Darwin this week, but wander if we are the only people with continual toilet issues or is it a Dometic Toilet saga?

Has anyone had sucess swapping to another brand?
Thanks
Rachael and Sean

Hi Rachael and Sean
Yes we have had problems with our 2009 BT toilet, Dometic replaced the complete toilet but ours is a rear ensuite might be different.
The 2007 BT which sound the same as yours has been a problem to the new owners and they have since got a new cassette all is OK so far.

With a 1998 BT, the only small issue with our Thetford is that the spring under the catch holding the cassette in place has weakened or come loose. Just sometimes, the seal does not open, as the cassette has moved slightly and needs a gentle shove into place from outside. Although not a problem, why does it happen when we've showered and it is raining or muddy outside? No leaks or pump failures at all.

Ha! Tha little small door on the off side of your van juast above the HWS (which of course you, nor anyone else for that matter, can not see) is the hatch for the inherited travelling gromble.
It is this little animal which comes alive in all adverse situations and plays havoc with us all. Fair weather is no challenge so it goes to sleep until foul weather.

Hi Sean and Rachael,

Yes we have had a few issues with the Dometic Vaccuflush Toilet flush mechanism since the van was new April 2008.

So far under warranty we have had:
1x new bowl to fix flush mechanism
1x new bowl to fix leakage between inner and outer bowl
1x new cassette ...broken neck
1x new docking station to fix a small vaccuum leak

And we went through quite a few ordeals trying to get things fixed but now seem to have it sorted. Allan is a genius at fixing it when something goes wrong. And since he has fiddled there has really been no problems.

Having said that we are really happy we don't have chemicals to fiddle with, no smells and it works well now.

Good luck.
