G'day Muster-bound people,
Although we are not attending the Muster this year, I would imagine that some will be going to or from the Muster via the Gregory Development Road and the Kennedy Highway via Oasis Roadhouse.
I presume that the zinc ore road trains are still running along this 12 ft bitumen road, and if they are, keep your UHF on 40, call up an on-coming truck and tell him to "stay on". It is wise to slow right down before venturing off the bitumen, as in some places the shoulders are steep and slippery. We had one trucky suggest "we both slow down and keep 2 wheels on the black top, as the shoulder was too soft and slippery." Those blokes know every nook and cranny along that road and it's best to do what they say.
If one comes up behind, call him up and tell him you are going to pull off the road as soon as you find a safe spot.
We don't want any more BT's like Silver Fox's.
Safe travels and have fun at the Muster.

As stated this road has numbered call points the first is at Fletcher creek just north of Charters. Should be on UHF 40 to listen and give your position. Protocols go something like this.
"Caravan northbound at 6" (they are all signposted) and if you see call point 8 signpost and hear "Southbound train at 8" it is time to get off the road. The ore trucks can have 4 trailers.
We found the truck drivers very courteous and helpful and they appreciate knowing where you are so listen carefully on entering a call zone and call out when you enter to let the trucks know you are there.
There were massive road works going on earlier this year and this road will become a fine stretch of hwy. The last callpoint (23 I think) is as you enter Mt Garnet.
Stay safe
Alan
