I am looking at getting an 18 or 19 ft BT and trying to get some idea if the what is around and what sort of prices are being paid.
But that is very difficult, as we seem to remove all details of a sale when the van has been sold. Why do we do this ?
Willie.

Willie,
Are you looking in the "For sale" section under the
forum tab. There are a lot of details there.
Paul.

Hiya Willie......
I thought you yearned for a smaller BT than your 16' as you were a solo bogger....does this interest in a larger "Elvis" mean that Mrs Willie has consented to dig your nuggets for you???
Cheers
Rick

Yes Rick,
Mrs Willie has agreed to join me on the road for a while in 6-12 months time, so I am looking around for larger digs.
Do you know what the max size BT is that I can tow with my Tojo 200TD (which has the GVM upgrade).
Cheers,
Willie.

Ahh great Nooz mate.... now you'll be able to show off your camp culinary skills to impress in the bush. She'll be hooked before you know it.
BTI recommend no larger than a 21 footer for the 200 series, however, I think that you have it pegged with an 18-19 footer knowing the type of use you are asking of it. Most with the 19's are happy with the size overall.
Ours is an 18 with a yacht bed and we have always said that a 20 footer would be the absolute top for our requirements, but at the end of the day, we know that the more room we have, the more stuff we might be tempted to stow in it.....and after more than 3 years of adventures in our 18, we still don't want for anything bigger as we do like the flexibility of access to good bush camps and the size for us is perfect.
Now, tell us about your impressions of the 200 series as we're looking at a replacement for our 100 series. I've just about lived on the LCOOL site since the 200 came out nearly 3 years ago and the woes and updated woes would nearly put us off a 200. But then, an overwhelming amount of owners love the 200 and and there is still a waiting list for them...
Cheers
Rick

Rick,
Thanks for the info. I sounds like a 19' is the go. I would however like to get one with the east west bed like my current 16" - it saves so much space ( even though it is very awkward to make ).
The 200TD is an incredible car and I am very pleased I bought it. I waited until the new production started in late 2009, before I placed my order. I have had only one problem - dust incursion and I think that is due to me not realising this car's fresh air system works differently to the one on my old 100 Series.
I think if you get one, you should get the pre-registration GVM done at ARB. Apart from that, my only additions have been long range tanks / wheel carrier, Exo drawers and the driving lights of the 100.
Have you noticed the current and the projected prices for tin, tungsten and rare earths ? I have taken positions in a few "near production" and jnr explorers assoc. with these.
All the best,
Willie.

Oh WOW
Hey that was a good weekend's work.....what a lot of fun that would have been....I'd better not show that to Julie or she'll be off like a shot. Well Done Mate.
I remember reading about Hill End on one of the Gold Forums a couple of years ago, long before we bought the motel in Armidale..... Now that we're permanent residents, it opens up a few new options for breaks etc.
When we get this new vehicle thing sorted, we'd like to getaway for some regular breaks. We have booked relief managers for 5 weeks next Sept-Oct and are trying to organise a couple of weeks in March. Do you have any plans for Hill End in March??? We'd love to see how it's done.....maybe we could find some more old bullets like we did at Mt Browne and Bingara. Do you take the BT there or is it just a quickie overnighter?
I've considered the GVM upgrade from ARB....how do you find the ride unloaded? Does it get too rough or is it comfortable for a trip to Brisbane from here without jarring the bones. We'd also consider the rear drawers too...are the EXO any better than the Black Widow??
Sorry about all the "Brain Picking"
Cheers
Rick

In March I will be detecting for two weeks with a mate in the Golden Triangle, so I will not be able to get permission for a Hill End trip. I take the BT up there - $10 a night in the Nat.Park's camping ground, with toilets and coin fed hot showers.
200 ride is still very comfortable after GVM upgrade - loaded or empty.
I had Black Widow in the 100 and had no complaints. The EXO are the next level up in quality and features. I have two next to each other, so you lose no space in the back really. I keep detectin gear in one side and mechanical / recovery gear in the other side. They are lockable and have a thingie that locks them in the out position automatically.
Willie.

Ahh Mate...love ya work.... 36 @ Tibooburra....GASP. I would have been happy with one...
OK on the Golden Triangle, that sounds like fun too gosh, "WORK" really is a four letter word isn't it?
We haven't made any concrete plans for Sept-Oct next year, but are looking at a Darling River Run and attending the Explor OZ Gathering at Silverton Sept 19th -23rd just to add a bit of socialising to our break away.
Thanks for the info on the drawers and GVM Upgrade, I'll look into that. We will look at the 60th Anniversary 200 series for value.... we we're considering the VX before this limited edition GXL came out. We're just not mad keen on any of the colour/trim combinations...so bland...after 2 x100 series with grey interior we thought we would go for the cream leather, but now they have dropped it from the line up.
Oh well, he who hesitates...
Cheers
Rick
