Who has them and are you happy?

This was posted on the Caravaners Forum:

"We have a Heki Hatch above the bed in the van which I hate. It lets too much light and heat in, the flyscreen doesn't seem to be quite wide enough and the solar roller blind needs replacing, which I think is quite expensive. At the moment we just keep the whole thing closed.

I don't think replacing it with another type of hatch is an option as it is quite large, roughly 950 x 650mm.

I'm thinking of cutting a piece of foil/foam-type insulation and placing it between the flyscreen and hatch to at least keep some of the heat out. It won't look that pretty but it may do the job, and we can leave the damaged solar screen open so we can open the hatch to get some air circulating." http://caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12273

We had a large hatch retro fitted in our BT and it is fabulous. We have ordered a new BT and it will have 2 sunroof hatches if they fit with the solar panels, aerials, dish, etc. I just had a look at our to see if it was a "Heki". I have no idea, but it does have some directions on use (haven't read them in 5 years!!). It reads: TO AVOID HEAT JAM SO NOT CLOSE BLIND MORE THAN 2/3 AND FLYSCREEN 1/3. Maybe that would make a difference if one is having heat problems.

We have our Large Size Heki Hatch above the bed, and love it.

When the van is hot you have extra breeze and it releases any heat built up during a day of travelling.

You can see the stars at night.

We close the 'silver' screen when we travel but honestly they are not hot.

Cheers
