Lets went
Image Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundOn our way home to Cairns we called into Charters Towers and spent a fair bit of time there, just loved it! We then headed out to the Burdekin Dam where we stayed at the caravan park which is a very clean and well presented park as you can see from the photos. After some great exploring of the Dam and surrounding area we headed off to see a lovely family whom we know, who own a cattle station along the Burdekin River, some 70,000 acres of good grazing land. Wayne & Pam Prichard are the owners of Old Glen Roy Station, Wayne is also a pilot and Wayne took us for a flight in one of his helicopters over the dam it was to be the best flight ever he really took great care in showing us all the sites of this spectacular area. Our timing was fantastic as there was about 1.2 meters of water going over the spillway at that time, just amazing! On our return Wayne and Pam told us of their plans to start helicopter joy flights in the area from 15 minutes flights, to fishing in the their best water holes or ½ day tours with a lunch. Helen and I just loved the flight, it was just breath taking, from the rock formations to the mountain ranges, the river, the wildlife, wild horses and of course the Dam, just fantastic. Definitely a must do when visiting the area; I know WE will be back for another flight! The Burdekin Dam caravan park could be a possible muster site for the
BOG as there is heaps of room, power, good drinking water, showers and toilets, Barra fishing and an area rich with history, just an idea for the future.

You just let the cat out of the bag (so to speak) We've been going up the dam for a few years now and it's a nice quiet little place. That is when water skiers aren't there. This message should probably be on the members
forum.

John & Helen -
Thank you for this posting.
It will be added to the Committee's list of possible Muster sites. We need members to continue looking for suitable sites for
Musters. It makes the Committees job a lot easier if we have a members recommendation.
Regards
Pam (Treasurer)
