Lots of us have rear view cameras either on our tow vehicles (we have one pointing to the rear and one pointing down to the hitch), and/or on the back of our caravans.
Today, I visited with Sound In Motion in Nambour; they do the entertainment system installations for
Bushtracker - great bunch of guys at the shop and first rate installations.
Anyway, in discussing the camera options I learned that there are also flush mount cameras that can be placed high up in the front corners of the walls of the caravan. The look down the whole length of the wall and to what is in the rear.
How often have you started to jack knife the van into a spot and cannot really see what you are doing because the tug's side mirrors no longer see where you are going?
Well, with a 9" screen that can a single view, split, or 3 or 4 images at once, you can turn on the side cameras whenever you are backing.
Also, the cameras, through a "box" are wired so that when you put on your turn signals the camera for the direction in which you are turning automatically turns on and the screen becomes split.
When we take delivery of the van in June, between the van and the truck we will be a 5 camera family.
Before you ask, I have just posted all I know on the subject. If you have questions call Brian at 07 5476 2899. I have no affiliation with SIM, and if you do make a purchase I do not receive any remuneration.
