On our last trip the battery box came adrift. It has now been secured with stainless steel bolts instead of screws. However, the box interior gray protective coating has been damaged and I would like to recoat it in case the batteries ever leak. Does anyone know what product can be used to recoat the box interior.
Regards and merry xmas to all,
Chris

Hi chris,
They appear to be painted with a HSHB Epoxy (high solids high build) which is a two pack industrial paint.
Most, if not all, industrial paint manufacturers produce this product under their own brand name, just ask for HSHB Epoxy.
One drawback is that most times it is only available in 20lte packs, but some may supply 4lte and some brands are not recommended for brushing also.
Because of the hardness of these products, like fibreglass resin, to get a bond the original surface MUST be very roughly abraded, all shine/smoothness removed, or the coat will delaminate.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ken

Hello Thisledo,
Thankyou for the feed back. I will look into the HSHB products and see if I can repair the box.
Best regards,
Chris

I think it is a "Flow Coat" . You can get it at any fibreglass supplies. that is what i did mine with. Be careful of the fumes when appling ! Mine worked fine.
