Evening
I’m sure that I read here not long ago that someone had upgraded their van suspension. I have a 3t pack and am thinking of upping it to 3.5t. But I’ve searched under every conceivable relevant word without luck. So has anyone done this, where did they get it done and approx price.
Thanks

Hello Pam & Les,

I just looked up your address and you are probably best to contact Simplicity in Melbourne 03 9401 4077

The other place you could go if you are heading north is one of our supporters Absolute Trailer Solutions in Warwick, Qld where I will be taking our van in a few weeks time to get some work done.
Give them a call on 07 4661 5966

I don't know if they have to do anything other than replace the springs, but if that is all they have to do then it is easy to do that yourself.

Hi Pam & Les,

I have had excellent service from N P Haufe, the manufacturer of Simplicity. My contact was Richard. Very helpful, reasonable prices. Not a long wait to get attention.

They can also do other upgrades to the suspension, plus alignment.

Regards,

Peter

We had our 18' done back in '07 at the BT Factory, who sent it out to the guy who builds their chassis/suspensions for the new BT's.

We were able to reuse the brakes and drums as it was all close to new and it cost us $4,000.00.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Rick

It will be interesting to see what the quote is direct from Simplicity or their Qld agent. Quiet a lot less than your price I should imagine.

Hi Les and Pam,

I think Rick is right concerning cost. I had this discussion with Richard at Hauff about 12 months ago after breaking the left hand spring on our suspension for the second time.

It is expensive as it is not just a matter of changing the springs but the whole suspension unit. Stronger components are used on the heavier duty suspension so the 3 tonne pack is discarded.

I decided to try and lighten the load! So far so good.

Hi Les & Pam

We had our 3T suspension upgraded late last year and had it done by Top Gun Trailers in Caloundra. Top Gun build the chassis for BT and did an excellent job.

Speak to Bill Rowland, the owner who is very helpful and we've got no hesitation in recommending them. Bill's number is (07) 54997877 or 0402088 488.Rgds

Thanks for all the responses. Most appreciated in guiding us in the right direction. Spoke to Richard at Simplicity. Very nice and extremely helpful. Stated that the whole suspension system needs to be replaced, not just spring packs. Would sell me the hardware but they no longer fit them, which isn’t feasible. Gave me a couple of contacts who said have done it a few times. One in Qld, the other Vic. So now I have to plan out when we can make it to either one. Happy census night!

I had my suspension on an 18ft BT upgraded to 3.5tonne in Jan this year. Stayed at the van park in Warwick and booked a unit, delivered the van on Thursday morn and picked it up on Fri afternoon minus $5,500. I could not fault the work. It is not just a case of replacing the spring pack but they have to cut out and replace with a larger unit the cross van steel member on which the whole spring system hangs.
I left the old unit there as it was pretty well stuffed as I had been loading my 3tonne up to 500kg overweight for the last 7 years!
Silly me!!!!
