Hi John,
The camp ground at Weipa is very nice.
then 85/90 km up the road (good condition 2) is Culleen Point, turn right at the T intersection, above Mapoon, you need to pay the local Aboriginal Community. Their info is on the loos beside the boat ramp, which they clean every day while we were there. Fishing is great there.
DO NOT GO into (I think it's called SCOTTS CROSSING) on the way up there,
2 hrs (without van) we reached the
BOG & LOG hole, which if you don't have a 4x4 motor bike you will not get through.
Happy fishing.
The road up is pretty good at the moment.

G'day Peter
Very much appreciate your first hand information, was thinking of pulling the pin on Cullen
Point due to lack of information on road in.
Regarding the camping area at Cullen Point are there any facilities
And was it very busy when you were there.
Thanks again for your help.
John

HI John
We were also at Culleen Point about 2 weeks ago with other BT friends. Track in is very good. There are toilets and cold shower as well as a boat ramp. It was pretty windy when we were there so didn't get our boat out , but you can fish from the beach. Make sure you drive along the beach to the mouth of Janie Creek where the turtle rescue camp is, beautiful beach and interesting drive (don't think of taking the van here though). The best place to camp at Culleen is opposite the toilets or the track towards the beach and boat ramp, just have a little walk before you drive in. We tried to get in further along the track so we could get ocean views, and not only did we get bogged in the sand, we also got stuck against an overhanging tree. Got out ok with a few helpers and a chain saw though! Probably about 4 other camps while we were there but all a good distance from each other. Have fun! Cheers Lyn and Peter
