Hi All,
Our
annual membership with NRMA has come up for renewal, and in updating vehicle details we discovered they had us down as not towing. Very surprising, as we had lengthy discussions with them in 2010 and upgraded to Premium Care ($154.40) for this very reason. And they sent a tilt tray (too small!) last September when a stub axle on the BT broke near home.
Now they are saying we need to pay an additional ($122) for Premium Plus, as our caravan weighs more than 2 tonne. But when we asked how far they would tow us at no additional cost, we were told 100km + the towing radius (which varies) of the nearest recovery centre. When we gave an example of breaking down in the Kimberley, we could not get a definitive answer.
We have heard horror stories of breakdowns at Drysdale Station and similar spots where vehicles and or caravans had to be recovered over very long distances.
Can anyone advise what sort of cover they have, and at what cost?
Thanks

Hi Stephen
The example above applied to me i.e. flatbed from near Drysdale Station to Kununurra approx 300kms
I have CIL insurance which covered the recovery costs - over $2000!
Regards
Wayne
