There is a rest area at Bowna just to the north of Albury. This was on the old highway but the new highway cut this bend out of the road. So it is relatively quiet and has a large flat bitumen area on which to park.
We used it a couple of years ago.

Hi R & R
What about Police Paddocks on Lake Hume 55 kilometres from Albury? See
http://www.albury.net.au/~tim/ruthcamp.htm. These have dirt road access. There is also Doolands Bend.
I have a few on my NSW list, but have not researched Victoria as yet. Even though Police Paddocks may be n the Victorian side i have shown it as Albury.
http://www.australiasomuchtosee.com/lists32.htm. See also Corowa.
I hope this helps

We stayed at police paddocks a few weeks ago...good location , we will return. Take the left turn when you see the no river access straight ahead sign
