We recently purchased one from caravansplus.com.au
Excellent service.

Don't forget to fill in the sides of the handle with a pin (eg. wire, nail etc) encased in some strong resin - it will help to prevent it breaking so easily in the future

Bob.

A couple of months ago we were parked up at Bushy Parker Park at Rollingstone in QLD and noticed a fellow camper was selling replacement handles made of aluminium. I didn't ask the price but thought they could be handy.

Doesn't help you at the moment though.

I have looked at te design of the door Handel and it looks to me as it is designed to break off if entry is forced. What are the consequences of strengthing the handel? Is the force transferred to the lock?

Agree with reinforcing, I used wire embeded in JB Weld - a two part compund that sets very hard. I think they have it at Super Cheap Auto.

If you make it stronger such that a greater force will break something else.......then you have something else to fix!!.............life wasn't meant to be easy!

By the way if someone has reinforced the handle, and something else has broken, talk about it on this forum......someone will have a way of fixing it!

Actually, the force that it takes to break a handle on Camec doors is about the same as the force it takes to break a hinge. The latter can be strengthened by applying tin strips, pop rivetted into place and stuck in place with a smear of JB Weld.

Maybe some manufacturer will eventually make a door and attachments that will not only survive BT travels, but could even be dust and midgie proof.

Cheers........Rob
