We are heading to Boulia for the camel races and then onto the Birdsville races end of August. We have 4 weeks to fill in between the two events. Does anyone know of anywhere we can go whether its camping or stations stays or volunteer work in outback Qld?

Hi Ned,

Possible suggestions might be to go to Diamantina Lakes National Park and camp at Hunters Gorge.

Then head north to camp at the Old Cork Waterhole on the Diamantina River.

Carisbrooke Station provide camping and the scenery is just wonderful.

If you haven't seen Lark Quarry then head south from Winton and continue onto Jundah. Once you cross the Mayne River, the drive to Jundah is through station property and has some wonderful scenery.
Camping at Coopers Creek just east of Windorah is pretty special as well.
