Does anyone know what camp spots are still open between Cape Crawford and Roper Bar?
We have not been there for several years and I had heard that National Parks had closed down a lot of the old camping sites.
Any information would be appreciated.

There is Butterfly Gorge, Southern Lost City. Towns river, Tomato Island, and Roper bar
Came through about a month ago. You can also drop your van at the ranger station, grab the key and go to western lost city (need the key)
We went through Ryans bend rather than Cape Crawford.
Road was reasonable

Fuel was
$2.20 at Roper Bar
$1.789 at Mataranka
$1.86 at Borroloola
I travelled south in a 200 series towing a 19ft BT
I filled at Mataranka - topped up at Roper Bar and then made it through to Borroloola and this included going out to Port Roper and the Western Lost City (no van)
Roper Bar to Borroloola via Ryan's Bend with side trips cost me 126 litres (average of 22.22l per 100km) I actually had a couple of jerries on the A frame but did not use them.
Not sure that Port Roper is worth the trip.
Cheers
Alan ( we really enjoyed the lost cities)

Hi Theo
Yes great trip.
Had 1 puncture (Roofing screw in tyre), broke stove lid and all 3 vehicles had to change fuel filters during the trip.
Regards
Alan
